Auditions for the 8th Encore! Sydney Pole Show topped the charts for the highest amount yet! Here are the lucky performers who will be in the show on 27 January…
All our girls range from mid intermediate – advanced levels with all different dance backgrounds. When we dance we dance together and all work as one.
Anastasia is a Brisbane-based pole artist, known for her love of contortion, exotic flow and chubby pugs. Pole dancing since 2010 and without any dance or gymnastics background, she found herself to be the ‘awkward’ student at first. But persistence and hard work paid off, and soon she soon earned an impressive collection of national and state titles.
An Dre has been pole dancing for nine years. He was hooked after his very first pole class. Despite having no gymnastics or dance background An Dre is known for his intricate floor work and sexy choreography. When performing An Dre has a very dark and theatrical style.
Andrea James Lui
Andrea James Lui is a trailblazer in the pole community – holding fast to her unique style of theatrical pole dance. She’s best known for her Pokémon show, which awarded her the inaugural Chilli Rox Showgirl Wildcard entry into Miss Pole Dance Australia 2017. She also won the Felix Cane Choice award in 2016 with her 90’s Pop show and can often be found collaborating with Amy Hazel – most recently as Black Swan.
Bianca was instantly addicted to pole dancing since her very first class almost two years ago. With a ballet background, she became obsessed with the flexility, grace and sensuality that accompanies pole. Now a teacher at Pole Dance Academy, she loves to train tirelessly to nail the latest flexibility moves as well as motivate and push her students to achieve their goals.
Bradley has been pole dancing since late 2015, originally suggested by a dance teacher at the time. He has always loved anything performing arts, varying from: theatre, music, dance and now pole. Recently Bradley was able to compete in Physipole’s In-House competition, IGNITE 2017, and became the Male champion. Bradley also is an instructor at Physipole Gladstone.
Bridget teaches and trains at Body Electric Pole Studio in Wellington. She spends most of her time flowing around the base of the pole, and she is passionate about fluidity and leg work. She has the most fun when she is performing just for the love of it and connecting with the audience.
With no previous dance experience, Carmen began pole dancing for a challenge and a bit of fun. From there she fell in love with the ability to adapt it to her own strengths and style of movement. She has performed on stage at VPC, APC, Encore and Hardcore as well as at a number of Pandemonium events. She is also a member of the Bottoms Up! Pole Craft Group who were nominated for the Victorian Aerial Awards “Best Pole Group 2016”.
Cass and Nicole
Cass and Nicole are both French but met in Wellington, New Zealand 4 years ago. They became good friends and have shared since then the same passion for pole, ski poles and walking poles. Cass has done 10 years of gymnastics while Nicole has tried all sorts of dance from belly dance to contemporary and enjoys flexibility tricks.
Catie and Cherie
In 2010 Catie and Cherie decided to take their first pole dancing class in Canberra as a way to get fit, meet people. In 2012 they decided to try our hand at doubles and loved it! Since then they have performed at studio showcases, Miss Pole Dance ACT,Double Vision, Pole Games and in 2015 in Encore. They consider themselves doubles tricksters but are now turning their focus to becoming better performers and dancers.
Angelique and Dominique are a duo known as Dammgelique. Angelique’s strength as a performer is her ability to be fierce and cute all at once, becoming a character and bringing someone new to life. She has an extensive background in dance, from ballet and jazz through to hip hop and burlesque. She also performs in aerial arts such as silks, lyra, trapeze, and Spanish web.
Dominique has been dancing for 24 years, in this time she has not been limited to one style. After joining an adult dance school later on she realised it just wasn’t as fun. That’s when she found Pole Dancing!
Elle Lacroix, who was voted in as one of our Encore heroes, is the proud owner of The Pole Parlour. She has been dancing for as long as she can remember – and like most of us, she often wonders what took her so long to discover pole?! 2018 is her 10th year of pole dancing, 9th of instructing, 3rd Encore appearance and her 3rd year as a studio owner. Elle loves a good song, a good costume and that euphoric feeling when a good routine comes together!
EmAndEm is made up of Emily, Andrea and Emma. Emily and Andrea form the duo Andily, who have competed and performed countless times, each time to a different theme and dance style. They currently hold the 2017 ACT & Tasmanian Pole Championships Group Champions title, and 2nd runner up at the 2017 NSW Pole Championships. They have also competed nationally at Miss Pole Dance Doubles, 2 years running.
Emma has performed solo for some years now, and regularly competes in Miss Pole Dance ACT and can’t help giving the audience a giant smile throughout her theatrical performances. Because of her high energy routines with the tricks that never stop, she is known as a “pocket rocket” with the ability to make the hardest moves look easy.
Formally a world ranked age group Ironman triathlete for the past 3 years and having successfully competed in the sport of triathlon for the past 10 years,Kry$ti was introduced to the world of pole (via Youtube) 2 years ago after her husband bought her a pole as a “surprise” to add variety to her strength training workouts.
After initially watching a few Youtube videos, she immediately fell in love with the artistic and gymnastic nature of the sport and has now taken a break from triathlon in order to focus on competing seriously as a pole artist
Ever since stepping on stage as a four-year- old, Jen has been a passionate dancer and performer, training and competing in many styles including calisthenics, ballet, jazz, contemporary and acro. She started pole dancing in 2011 for something a little different and as an outlet while she completed her PhD in Synthetic Chemistry.
She envisioned teaching and competing as a “gap year” from her rigorous lab life but over 3 years later pole is still her whole life! She is currently an instructor at En Pointe Aerial Academy.
Owner of Suzie Q pole studio in Parramatta, Luxe began teaching pole dancing in 2005. Luxe is 2 time international champion of Asia Pacific Pole Dance Championships and has competed in multiple national competitions, including MPD, Aerial Allstars and Pole Candy Professional. She is known for her amazing contortion work, and flawless technique.
Miss Adora Belle
With over 19 years dance experience, Miss Adora Belle is no stranger to the stage. However it was only a year ago that she dipped her toe into the ever welcoming pool of burlesque. She found her heart and home at ShowPony Pole and Burlesque 2 years ago when she tried her hand at Pole and fell quickly in love with burlesque as well.
Noelle has been poling since January 2017 at Altitude Pole and Fitness Christchurch, New Zealand. She did her first performance in September for Altitude Student Showcase. Her style is contemporary and artistry focusing on forms and emotions.
Oliva has been been poling since 2011 at Altitude Pole Christchurch, in New Zealand. Her background was in competitive aerobics before that. Her style varies, but exotic is her current favourite, with an emphasis on flexy moves and flow.
You’ve never seen a live pole performance the likes of the combined twisted, tongue in cheek minds of the Pole Fanatics dancers. They are a team with varied dance backgrounds (including ballet, cheerleading, contemporary, hip hop, bollywood, belly dancing & acrobatics).
Poletique Fitness Studio has been open for 4 years and is owned and operated by Jazmine Naethuys. Jaz and her team of instructors are so passionate about the pole and fitness industry and love that Encore can give performers an opportunity to bring their concepts to life to share with our fellow pole enthusiasts.
Stephanie Jewel has been pole dancing for a number of years new. She loves to be able to incorporate her years of ballet training to create lyrical routines. She loves performing and that has been her main motivation for getting involved in competitions. Stephanie is the Popular Choice Winner from Miss Fit Pole Dancing’s Halloween Heaven Pole Showcase.
The Vertica Belles are a group of professional pole artists, dancers and instructors, including Kim Miller, An Dre, Candice Dobbie, Tayla Vanderhorst, Chiara Arias, and Georgie Bartlett.
